Florida Personal Injury Protection Repeal Bills Clear House, Senate Committees Today

Date Published: 04-13-2017

Bills that would repeal the requirement for Florida drivers to carry Personal Injury Protection Insurance cleared committees in both the Florida House of Representatives and Senate today, April 13, 2017.

Differences between the two versions remain, with the Senate's SB 1766 providing for mandatory medical payments coverage, whereas the House version, HB 1063, does not.

HB 1063 was approved by a vote of 22 to 5 in its final committee of reference this morning and is now ready for a hearing before the full House.  The Senate version, approved in an earlier meeting by a vote of 8 to 1, must still pass two more committees before reaching the Senate floor.
